I had a twitter debate with Frances Coppola over the weekend in which she claimed first that I had no evidence of illegality in Cyprus or that it was a tax haven, second that all Russian money is not dodgy money, third that all dodgy money is not Russian money and fourth the Russian dodgy money, if it had been there, was all gone now.
These claims are all wrong. The onus is on Cyprus to prove that it is not behaving illegally, not for me to prove that it is not legal and alegal.
And Cyprus is obviously a tax haven and there is no point debating it. Do not question what I mean by a tax haven is in the same way that you don’t question what I mean by neoliberalism.
As for the second and third points, all Russian money is dodgy money and all dodgy money is Russian money. The words ‘Russian’ and ‘dodgy’ are entirely interchangeable in the same way that ‘Hitler’ and ‘vegetarian’ are.
In fact, here is a Venn diagram of my logic:
And as for the fourth point, because all Russian money is dodgy money, and there is still lots of Russian money there, that means that there is lots of dodgy money there still.
